North Platte Pathology, LLC (NPP), is seeking one full-time six-month term Cytotechnologist in Casper, WY. Primary work-site is North Platte Pathology office located at 111 S. Jefferson Street, Ste 150B, Casper, WY 82601 and occasionally at Wyoming Medical Center, located at 1233 East 2nd Street, Casper, WY 82601.
NPP will provide/reimburse for housing expenses for the six-month period.
Accurately evaluate specimens from different anatomic sites for interpretation using appropriate criteria and uphold established performance standards.
Analyze laboratory findings for accuracy of the results.
Screen cytopathology slides of both gynecological and non-gynecological fluids.
Examine cells samples for abnormalities in color, shape, or size of cellular components and patterns.
Submit slides with abnormal cell structures to pathologists for further examination.
Produce and report accurate, reliable lab test results in time frames that contribute to effective patient care.
Comply with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements related to health care delivery, and ensure all activities within the scope of service continuously meet or exceed established regulatory standards.
Process specimens using ThinPrep techniques and provide on-site assessment of adequacy for non-GYN fine needle aspirations (FNAs) at local hospitals/offices when requested.
Work closely with clinical staff, providing information on correct handling of specimens, test results, pertinent clinical information, and decision-making priority cases.
Perform and evaluate established quality control procedures and equipment maintenance and implement corrective action when indicated.
Complete required continuous training and education, including department-specific requirements as needed.
Ensure confidentiality of patients’ information, results, and reports.
Education: Applicant must possess a U.S. Bachelor’s Degree or foreign equivalent in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, and must have American Society for Clinical Pathology Board Certification as a Cytotechnologist.
Must have proficient computer skills as well as the ability to quickly learn North Platte’s software system (Orchard Harvest).
