Performs duties of the pharmacist with the understanding of both clinical and technical aspects of pharmaceuticals.
Ensures a medical staff approved formulary; ensures maintenance of an adequate medication supply.Ensures the integrity of the medication supply.Establishes specifications for the procurement of medications, chemicals and biologicals.
Assures handling, documentation, dispensation and control of controlled substances by assigned staff in compliance to all federal and state regulations for controlled substances.
Directly supervises pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
Oversees the day-to-day operation of the pharmacy.
Assumes the administrative duties of the department in the absence of the Pharmacy Director.
Develops and prepares instructional/review materials pertaining to proper storage, verification of orders, preparation, dispensing of medications as needed.
Oversees the comprehensive Quality Improvement process in the pharmacy and throughout the hospital.Ensures that all monthly unit and crash carts inspections and reports are completed. Other required quality assurance tasks are assigned and completed on time.
Oversees pharmaceuticals and supply inventory in a cost effective manner.
