The James J. Peters VA Medical Center is seeking a full-time Medical Records Technician (Cancer Registrar) to join our CP-General Surgery Department.
The Medical Records Technician (Cancer Registrar) performs a wide variety of technical duties necessary for the development and analysis of diagnostic and therapeutic cancer data, cancer program oversight and prioritization of duties. The incumbent is responsible for planning, organizing and managing a majority of activities in the Cancer Registry Program. Cancer Registrar maintains clinical registries and work to meet the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies related to approved cancer and/or other programs requiring registries.
Coordinates the Tumor Registry and cancer committee related functions
Abstracts, Codes, and maintains Registry and application
Ensures all regulatory requirements are at or above level
Knowledge of neoplastic disease processes, cancer staging systems.
Knowledge of biologic/molecular prognostic indicators to determine derived state
Certification is Preferred in Cancer Registrar
