Performs cytology screening and related clerical and technical functions independent of direct supervision, to include but not limited to assisting in specimen preparation or evaluation of collected samples. Duties may be performed in the laboratory or remote locations. Technologist will be expected to be able to assist the Section Supervisor in all phases of cytology operations.
Must meet federal requirements for Cytotechnologist qualifications. Preferable four years of college work which must include 12 hours of biology in an accredited college or university. Completion of a cytology internship and certification as a cytotechnologist by the Board or Registry of ASCP or equivalent. Eligible for or hold an active NYSDOH license.
Must have a working knowledge of cytology laboratory.
