Cytotechnology - Faculty Position/ Program Director

Old Dominion University (ODU) invites applications for an open faculty position to lead our Program in Cytotechnology in the School of Medical Diagnostic and Translational Sciences (rank commensurate with qualifications). In addition to instruction, duties include serving as Program Director beginning July 25, 2019. The School is housed in the College of Health Sciences, (https://www.odu.edu/hs) and includes undergraduate programs in medical laboratory science, cytotechnology and nuclear medicine technology as well as a postgraduate certificate program in molecular diagnostics and cytotechnology. The school’s faculty also participate in PhD Programs for Graduate Biomedical Sciences, Health Services Research, Modeling and Simulation, and Biomedical Engineering. An appropriate master’s degree is required, as is professional certification in Cytotechnology (ASCP). A doctoral degree is preferred. Clinical laboratory work and recent classroom teaching experience in accredited programs are requisite. Additionally, preference will be given to individuals familiar with distance and technology-enhanced learning pedagogy. The successful candidate will provide leadership and vision for the ODU Cytotechnology Program. Qualifications for Program Director include experience in program administration as well as knowledge of and preferably experience in the accreditation process. The individual chosen may also serve as educational coordinator and, if so, would be expected to provide leadership for developing and maintaining off campus clinical training in that capacity. |
