Valley Children's is seeking an experienced Cardiac Sonographer Lead to join a team of professionals in the outpatient clinic. Valley Children’s Cardiac Testing Center remains one of the only facilities in California and the Western United States to be accredited in both pediatric and fetal echocardiography and provides noninvasive diagnostic services for children and expectant mothers. With a goal of ensuring all patients with suspected or known congenital, cardiovascular and cardiopulmonary heart disease have access to effective, compassionate and innovative cardiac testing services.
The Cardiac Sonographer Lead works under the direction of the Department Manager and performs a variety of medical procedures with mastery, producing quality studies under a variety of conditions.
Position Details and Responsibilities:
Serve as a clinical expert and resource for the Sonography Department including performing and assisting in fetal cardiac, transesophageal, epicardial and intracardiac echocardiographic procedures in outpatient, inpatient, cath lab and operative environments
Act as a department resource to the Cardiologist and service-line
Participate in the rotation of on-call duties and Outreach Clinic involvement with other Cardiac Sonographers
Generate and prepare a draft echocardiogram report using the archiving and report writing software
Assist in the identification and resolution of work process issues within the department
Assist with staff scheduling and provides feedback to management regarding performance issues and appraisals
Perform EKGs, Holter and multi-event applications as needed.
Completion of a 2-year degree from an accredited Echocardiography/Ultrasonography Technical/Vocational Training required
Bachelor’s Degree in Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography preferred
Minimum five (5) years progressively responsible experience required.
Demonstrated knowledge of Cardiac Embryology, congenital heart defects, cardiac Hemodynamics and palliative/ corrective congenital heart surgical procedures
BLS - Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire or transfer into position
