What you will do:
Perform diagnostic MRI scanning procedures through proper positioning and technique.
Apply solid and consistent judgment in evaluating diagnostic studies.
Screen patients before exam for any precautions or contraindications pertaining to the examination, and review requisition for reexamination for relevant information.
Thoroughly explain procedure to alleviate patient anxiety and facilitate patient cooperation.
Monitor the condition of any patient, and assist the radiologist in providing medical attention.
Maintain the MR scanning and emergency equipment, and report any hazardous conditions or breakdowns.
Prepare examination results for interpretation by the radiologist to include correct identification and film processing, adequate clinical history and previous x-rays for comparison (if available).
Assist radiologist during administration of contrast media and proactive medical/surgical aseptic procedures.
Assist with patient scheduling and patient preparation.
Conduct examinations with regard to patient age, condition or other special requirements.
Schedule, organize and monitor patient flow to meet productivity, quality, health and safety standards.
Maintain annual venipuncture training/competency as required by JCAHO and department.
What we expect:
Associate's degree in applied science-related field.
Registration with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists and current licensure by the Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety.
Ability to operate MR scanning technology and ancillary equipment, with specific references to cross-section anatomy, medical and surgical disease and scientific principles.
Current CPR certification.
Ability to identify disease abnormalities and physiological processes while performing MR scans.
Knowledge of quality assurance, customer service and OSHA principles and practices.
Comfort communicating with patients and their relatives, medical staff and co-workers.
At least 1 year as an MRI technologist highly desirable.
