The Senior Neurodiagnostic Technologist, under general supervision will participate as an integral member of Neurodiagnostic Services by performing routine and complex EEGs, Video EEG in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, Long Term (EEG) monitoring, Evoked Potentials (EPs) and other specialized procedures in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including nursing floors, intensive care units, operating room and other specialized locations. These tests record the electrical activity in the brain and nervous system. Ensures electrode and technical integrity and quality of all Neurodiagnostic procedures performed. Accurate results provide the physician with valuable information to diagnose and treat neurological conditions/disorders such as headaches, seizures, strokes, and degenerative brain disease. Actively participates in departmental and organizational programs, including performance improvement activities, in-services and staff development activities. This position is eligible for a $7500 Sign-on Bonus for new hires.
Two years experience as an EEG Technologist in an acute care hospital setting
Registered in one or more modalities
High School diploma or equivalent experience
Experience with diagnostic medical equipment
Demonstrated competency in performing complex EEG's as well as in one or modalities such as EP, LTM, EMU etc
Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
Demonstrated interpersonal skill in dealing with patients, family, caregivers, physicians, and clinical staff
Proficient in computer skills including Word, Excel, and on line communication
Proficient in with Neurodiagnostics software applications
Possession of good interpersonal, time management, problem solving and self-initiation skills
Knowledge and practice of electrical safety relevant to Neurodiagnostic equipment
Ability to work variable shifts
Demonstrates ability to be an independent, motivated self-starter
The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations
Prior experience working with an interdisciplinary health provider team
Prior experience working in an academic medical center environment, working on complex cases
Graduate from an accredited training program in Neurodiagnostics
One of the following:
Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.)
Registered Evoked Potential Technologist (R.EPT)
Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
