The Department of Neurosciences (https://medschool.ucsd.edu/som/neurosciences ) and the Section of Neurobiology in the Division of Biological Sciences (http://biology.ucsd.edu) at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and invites applications from outstanding candidates for a tenured Neurobiologist.
We are seeking a qualified candidate whose research program fits well with the synergistic strategic goals of both departments and reflects a burgeoning strength at UCSD in the development and use of sensors and techniques for imaging and recording of neural circuity, including new molecular pathways for cell-to-cell communication. This recruitment will also leverage local strengths in data sciences to capture and analyze the massive and multifaceted data produced by experiments involving the increasingly complex recording and imaging of neural circuitry. Qualified candidate will be expected to develop and sustain outstanding extramurally funded research programs. Considerable opportunity exists for collaboration within our robust research enterprises.
The departments are especially interested in candidates who have demonstrated commitment to excellence by providing leadership in teaching, research, and service towards building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment and a willingness to promote excellence in the University's diversity initiatives. Must also be committed to teaching graduate and undergraduate students in the participating departments.
Candidate must have a PhD or equivalent degree in Neurosciences, Neurobiology or a related field at the time of application. In addition, the successful candidate must have a track record of scientific accomplishment.
Candidates with collegial and collaborative academic background and experience working in diverse, equitable and inclusive environments are preferred.
The Joint 50/50 Appointment will be in the Department of Neurosciences and Section of Neurobiology in the Division of Biological Sciences at the Associate or Full Professor rank. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
