Under general supervision from the laboratory manager and consistent with department policies the Technologist II will:
Ensure accurate diagnostic results
Prepare patients for and conduct routine and special END procedures, such as; routine, ambulatory, neonatal exams, long-term video EEG’s, evoked potentials, neuromonitoring, including diagnostic and investigative studies in the outpatient laboratory, at the bedside, and in critical care units, on all ages of patients served by the department, WADA’s
Mentor junior Neurodiagnostic Technicians and END students (performing clinical rotation) by explaining procedures or demonstrating the proper maintenance of equipment
Have extensive knowledge of epilepsy with regards to classification, seizure recognition, and treatment. The technologist who will assume this position will be responsible for providing emergency EEG call rotation after scheduled work hours
Provides emergency EEG call rotation, as needed
Hours of work: Thursday - Saturday, 12-hr day shifts OR Sunday – Tuesday, 12-hr day shifts
Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience in the Neurodiagnostic field, in an inpatient or office setting
Education: High school diploma required; Graduate of an accredited electroneurodiagnostic technology program; Associates or Bachelor of Science degree is preferred
Certification/Training: CPR for all ages; Special Training required and resultant expertise in the recognition of ictal and electrographic management of clinical seizures and/or other medical emergencies preferred
