What You Will Be Responsible For:
Â·Provides technical oversight for department of responsibility to include clinical, technical, and operational duties.
Â·Responsible for test performance in applicable laboratory departments as determined by training, competency, and supervisory discretion / departmental needs, to include technical procedures and preanalytical processes (phlebotomy, registration, ordering, and/ or specimen receipt).
Â·Reports test results using appropriate documentation methods; ensures timely communication of critical and other significant laboratory results to the appropriate patient care unit or patient care provider.
Â·Ensures accuracy and completeness of all departmental quality control and designated quality assurance activities, including but not limited to establishment of QC ranges, linearities, correlations, and start up protocols.
Â·Ensures maintenance, calibrations, and troubleshooting of departmental instrumentation and test systems are performed appropriately and timely.
Â·Maintains effective document recording, storage, and retention system for the department of responsibility.
Â·Maintains and prepares departmental policies and procedures.
Â·Responsible for establishing par levels for inventory for department of responsibility; ensures accurate and timely ordering of supplies; ensures appropriate storage and utilization of resources.
Â·Provides training and competency assessment for all applicable staff in the department of responsibility.
Â·Actively participates in performance improvement initiatives for department of responsibility and as a laboratory representative for interdepartmental programs, as appropriate.
Â·Demonstrates ability to identify and resolve issues related to age-appropriate and disease-specific care.
Â·Uses appropriate PPE and other laboratory safety equipment as indicated by policy.
Â·Maintains current knowledge of departmental and hospital policy, Joint Commission, CLIA, and other regulatory requirements.
Â·Represents the Laboratory department in a professional manner in all patient, employee, visitor, and physician interactions;
Â·Assures workflow continuity through communication.
Â·Maintains regular dialog with Laboratory supervisory / managerial staff concerning quality, safety, and customer service issues within the department and the facility.
Â·Performs other duties as assigned by direct supervisor and laboratory supervisory personnel.
What You Will Need:
Â·Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
Â·Additional languages preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Â·(B.S.) degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field required.
Â·4 years clinical laboratory experience in area of primary responsibility; 1 year clinical laboratory experience in all areas required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
Â·Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel strongly preferred.
Â·Phlebotomy experience and competency strongly preferred.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
Â·Current (MT or CLS) licensure with approved national registry organization (ASCP or equivalent) required.
Oversight and performance of preanalytical, analytical, and post analytical process of clinical laboratory testing in department of responsibility.Accountable for quality control, quality assurance, and performance improvement activities and outcomes.Utilize critical thinking skills to ensure the quality of patient test results.
