The health technician performs both clinical and administrative duties in support of the mission for the Department of Veteran Affairs, North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System, Diagnostic Imaging Service. The Diagnostic Imaging at NF/SGVHS includes the Radiology and Nuclear Medicine departments at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center and the Lake City VA Medical Center, Jacksonville, Tallahassee and the Villages Outpatient clinics. Major Duties: Assists with coordination of work assignments to ensure a smooth workflow. Cleans and prepares the imaging equipment and room for the next exam/procedure. Prepares the patient for his/her upcoming exam/procedure. Sets up the imaging room to coincide with the examination being performed to include the use of proper sterile procedure when needed. Verifies two patient identifiers following Diagnostic Imaging Service policy and procedure. Registers and case edits patients pre/post exams. Checks inventory of supply stock and notifies MSD and/or modality technologist or Supervisor when a supply is needed. Restocks supplies, assuring that there are adequate standard and specialized supplies for upcoming procedures/exams, taking into consideration the availability and the time it takes to receive specialized supplies and notifies Supervisor if there is a critical need for procedure/exam. Checks equipment to be sure they are in working order. Assists modality supervisor, Biomed and vendor with coordination of preventive maintenance and/or repair to ensure operability of the equipment.
