This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Duties include but are not limited to: Arranges work schedule and handling of priority cases daily Assigns work to other therapists daily Explains work assignments, methods and procedures when necessary Arranges and assigns on-call schedule Assists department management with various Quality Assurance Programs Prepares annual reports utilizing data collected Work with other staff in Radiation Oncology Department (Physicians, Physicists, Dosimetrists, Nurses, and Administrative Staff) to make sure that the treatment of the patients are done without any problems. Operates linear accelerators in the treatment of malignant/non-malignant diseases Instructs other therapists , when necessary, in the proper operation and maintenance of linear machines Administers daily treatment according to physicians specifications Operates the CT scan machine Fabricate patient immobilization devices such as VacLoc, Head Shell, etc. Insures proper maintenance of treatment machines Follows proper radiation safety procedures Reports malfunctions in equipment to proper authorities (Physicians & Physicists) Reviews daily work in progress Informs therapists of their work performance according to performance management system Managing and coordinating administrative functions to keep productivity at efficient levels. Making sure the staff therapists are rotated through all radiation therapy stations in order to remain proficient at these tasks. Keeping therapists abreast f licensure/registration expiration dates and maintaining the CE for appropriate recording periods. Going over the safety hazards of the job and within the radiation therapy department (making sure no one operates any equipment that may harm patients or themselves.) Ensure patient safety the entire time patients are being treated Watch and evaluate hw therapists operate equipment, handle patients (inpatient and outpatient) Manage workflow effectively and efficiently to be equitably distributed among staff Partner with the Chief Physicist and Radiation Therapy Section Chief regarding therapist performance and patient flow through the department, including being proactive with solutions if needed. Handle disciplinary issues timely and appropriately, including corrective and adverse actions Monitor staff leave responsibly to ensure staffing levels are maintained appropriately to not have a negative impact on patient care Handle performance based issues appropriately, including 5-part folders, accurate standards, clear communication of issue to employees, timely reviews Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am to 430pm Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
