Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is hiring talented registered respiratory therapists to support our Heart & Vascular, Surgical, and Medical teams.  

We have an exceptional team of respiratory therapists who provide the best and most advanced care to the patients they serve.  Our respiratory team members work closely with physicians to utilize lung protective strategies based on individual patient diagnostic presentations to facilitate the most positive outcomes.

These are great opportunities for candidates with excellent critical thinking skills who appreciate a fast paced environment where they have the opportunity to train to be a member on the critical care float team, transport team, and ECMO team.   Our Respiratory Therapists also have access to a state of the art simulation lab that contributes to their development as a respiratory professional.

A Magnet-designated hospital since 2007, it provides high-level, patient-focused medical care. The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is the only medical facility in Pennsylvania to be accredited as a Level 1 trauma center for both children and adults. Hershey Medical Center shares its Hershey campus with Penn State Children’s Hospital, Penn State Cancer Institute and Penn State College of Medicine. 

JOB SUMMARY:

Our Registered Respiratory Therapists:

Deliver aerosolized medications as prescribed

Report patient response and records in patient’s records.

Assess patients and manage life support equipment with medical team; evaluate need for mechanical ventilation using appropriate testing procedures.

Assess patients to determine respiratory therapy treatment plan; consult with attending physician, and recommend appropriate care based upon evaluation.

Respond to emergency calls (codes, traumas, and rapid responses).

Evaluate the patient’s needs for airway care and secretion removal.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates Degree from a CoARC approved program in Respiratory Therapy required.

Licensed as Respiratory Therapist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

RRT credential required.

ACLS or PALS/NRP certification required.

Ability to think critically and multitask.
