Atlantic Health System is seeking a Full Time Clinical Lab Assistant II for Morristown Medical Center to work in the Transfusion Services department from 11pm - 7am and weekends as needed.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities of Position:
Performs inventory of blood products. Maintains adequate supplies and orders as needed. Receives and enter blood products into inventory, as needed. Receives, logs and dates supplies and reagents into inventory
Prepares products for issue including thawing fresh frozen plasma, cryoprecipitate and irradiating blood products
Performs daily quality control/maintenance on equipment and blood storage refrigerators and freezers
Performs clerical duties, including but not limited to, answering phones and communicating needs to transfusion team
Demonstrates competency with all applicable computer systems and their functions as they relate to assigned tasks
Issues blood, blood products and blood derivatives to floor/department personnel
Participates in Quality Assurance activities, including, but not limited to, performing internal assessments, initiating event reports, and reviewing new/revised policies and procedures
Minimum Education Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Associates degree preferred including chemistry/biological science coursework
Minimum Experience Required:
Previous laboratory experience preferred
Knowledge of transfusion services workflow/instrumentation preferred
Knowledge of medical terminology, preferred
