The role you’ll contribute:
The Diagnostic Team Leader will possess a broad understanding and advanced knowledge of the requirement of the Department of Radiology equipment and staff, exercising professional judgment in performance of services and maintaining a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. The Team Leader is responsible for asset management, and collaborate with physicians, nursing, ancillary and Radiology staff in the facilitation and coordination of inpatient, Emergency Department, Surgical Services and outpatient Radiology procedures. The major functions of the Team Leader are: applying critical thinking skills and judgment in planning, problem solving and decision making related to staffing to meet patients’ multi-specialty/multi-imagining modality needs; facilitating communications between individual associates and teams, physicians and the Radiology Director, as well as other Medical Center personnel; having and maintaining clinical knowledge and skill to act as a resource in crisis situations in direct patient care. The Team Leader assists the Radiology Director in the development and implementation of department policies and procedures, budget and planning, a comprehensive education and core competency evaluation program for Radiology associates and support staff, maintenance of staffing and scheduling management, department Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement.

- Continually reassesses staff competency and documents yearly.
- Department Patient Satisfaction Champion. Leads by example and provides staff coaching.
- Maintains adequate staffing and flexing if necessary to meet productivity targets.
- Assists in the annual job evaluation process within modality.
- Assists with onboarding and training of new staff.
- Assists staff with procurement of equipment and supplies.
- Reviews and updates modality specific policies and procedures.
- Continually evaluates existing processes and workflow for ongoing process improvement.
- Audits charges and procedures daily.
- Performs monthly QA and reports to manager.
- Works with staff for QA, QI and CQI.
- Organizes staff in-services and training.
- Oversees equipment quality control.
- Maintains daily logs.
- Maintains JCAHO, OSHA, NCR EPA and State standards at all times.
- Incorporates patient, physician, customer needs and concerns into decisions and takes action.
- Acts as a resource for the Radiology Director and Radiologist in decision making process.
- Conducts team huddles and reports minutes to staff.
- Follows SMMC standards of behavior.
- Attends 75% of scheduled team lead meetings and accountable for obtaining information addressed in meetings.
- Ensures all exams are marked RTR in a timely manner.
- Provides/delegates patient transportation when needed.
- Credit/modify exam charges and changes to appropriate exam.
- Performs other related duties as required and deemed necessary per Radiology Manager/Director.
