Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Faculty Group Practice - Clinical Laboratory Technologist - Cancer Center-Lake Success.
In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for performing and assessing complex clinical laboratory tests on specimens for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in a timely manner. Performs laboratory tests and procedures, which require technical skill and an exercise of independent judgment with minimal supervision, and documents results to ensure compliance with Medical Center and regulatory requirements. Applies sound technical judgment in evaluating problems and developing prompt, reasonable, workable alternatives, which benefit the patient within established guidelines of the department. Handles varying workloads while maintaining accuracy. Follows approved policies and procedures in performing specific methodologies and instrument operations and follows approved policies for proper recording (accuracy and legibility) and reporting of all results.
Job Responsibilities:
Perform laboratory testing.
Participate and prepare for lab inspections.
Identify and differential White Blood Cells.
Performs and documents preventive maintenance procedures and instrument function checks.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology from a program registered by the NYS Department of Education or Bachelor's Degree in the major of biology, chemistry or physical sciences from an accredited college or university. License as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist by the State of New York based on the on the Special Provision of the Regulations of the Commissioner in accordance with the Clinical Laboratory Technology Practice Act. Minimum of six months experience in most laboratory disciplines and especially Hematology. Must be knowledgeable in Quality Control procedures and Laboratory Automation. Effective oral, written, communication and interpersonal skills. Position requires the ability to microscopically identify and differentiate White Blood Cells along with morphological findings. In addition, visually analyze instrument Scatter Plots and Histograms.
Required Licenses: Clinical Lab Technologist-NYS
Preferred Qualifications: NCA/ASCP certification in addition to the minimum requirements. Hematology, chemistry and urinalysis experience preferred. Minimum 5 years od Hematology with manual differential experience preferred.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $49,712.00 - $84,916.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
