Works under the direction of the Manager of the operating room in collaboration with the PCC-RN. Responsible for assisting with education, orientation, process improvement, product evaluation, onboarding of new physicians, instrument and equipment management, and Preference card management related to their service area. Provides for safety/security of self and others and follows all special precautions as related to patient care. They maintain a clean/organized perioperative unit. Promotes a positive attitude to staff, families, and patient/guests as well as maintains patient confidentiality. Performs all tasks in a manner that is cost effective without compromising quality of care, meets hospital continuing education and certification requirements, and upholds goals and objectives of the Department of Perioperative Services. Contributes to organizational effectiveness and demonstrates career growth and development. Works variable rotating shifts as assigned. Call is assigned on a rotating basis.

Occupies the position which is the last internal resource for support or direction. Expected, as a result of the position, to have the ultimate knowledge, control, influence, and/or jurisdiction in surgical technology. Takes a lead role in developing best practices for the organization.* Environmental Sterility & Safety (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate environmental sterility and safety in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Generally works under the direction of others while accomplishing assignments.* Environmental Sterility & Safety (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery of environmental sterility and safety in practical applications of a difficult nature. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully delivering environmental sterility and safety services without requiring support and instruction from others. Able to train and educate by setting the example, giving technical instruction, providing leadership, and generally raising the level of performance of others while on the job.* Operating Room Care (Expert): (Blank)* Surgical Equipment Knowledge (Expert): Considered an expert in the use, impact, capability and performance of the specific equipment used in the organization. Cognizant of state-of-the-art features that improve the equipment and its capabilities. Develops best practices for equipment usage.* Inventory Management (Intermediate): Monitors material movement into and out of stock, reconciles inventory balances, and maintains adequate inventory levels.
